MERCEDEZ-BENZ FASHION WEEK BERLIN WILL TAKE PLACE JULY 17th 20th, 2008 AT BEBELPLATZ, IN THE HEART OF THE GERMAN CAPITOL



When German top model Eva Padberg gracefully floated along the catwalk in a striking feather emblazoned robe by Zac Posen in Berlin's Postbahnhof, the second Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin ended, capping off a week that included shows by HUGO, Strenesse Blue, MICHALSKY, JOOP! menswear and many others. Thousands of guests gathered to marvel at the latest collections from eighteen German and International Designers.



Dr. Kristina Hammer, Director Global Marketing Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars: "Starting with the world premiere of the brand new CLC Sport Coup and ending with the show of Hollywood star designer Zac Posen, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin was a huge success a success that we want to build on in July."

Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta came up with a marvelous bridalwear collection for the Spring/Summer 2008 season. Sample wedding gowns from his collection deviate from formulaic looks and play up off-shoulder dresses, flouncy skirts, and pastels. Whites and ivories are matched with subtle grays and the gowns are embellished with with sparkling crystals for a look that’s romantic and glamorous. Also featured in his wedding gown collection are tulle empire-cut dresses, embroidered gowns, dresses with lattice-work, and off-the-shoulder chiffon.

Modest gowns by Allure Bridal

Allure Bridal is the first site I've noticed with a bridal gown category of "modest". Since I'm quite traditional in believing that a wedding (particularly a church wedding) isn't quite the place to be letting it all hang out, I loved almost all the dresses in the "modest" range.

I love the classic simplicity of this dress - M341 - it reminds me of something Jane Powell or Doris Day would have worn to marry Howard Keel (yes, I've been watching old afternoon movies...).
